In order for the hood to cope with its duties, it must not only match the cubic capacity of the room, the installation height of the hood above the stove is also very important.
The main question - at what height to install the hood, to ensure its maximum efficiency? After all, if it drags “half-power”, fatty deposits will continue to accumulate on the furnishings, decor, curtains and other textile elements. It also settles on the ceilings and walls, and on the floors.
Recommendations on the installation height are given by the manufacturer and are reflected in the instructions; therefore, it is very important to clean it before proceeding with the installation. Typically, a range of values is indicated that fits a particular model. Only if these values are observed, can the exhaust really cope with air cleaning.
Unfortunately, it is not always possible to get instructions - these useful brochures are often lost, or they are torn during packaging, and it is impossible to read the necessary information. Therefore, it is useful to know at what height the experts recommend installing the hood. This height depends primarily on what type of stove is installed in your kitchen.
Height of installation of a direct extract over a plate
- For gas stoves, the height of the exhaust hood above the working surface should be in the range of 75 to 85 cm.
- For electric or induction plates, the installation height can be less - from 65 to 75 cm.
Installation height inclined hood above the stove
Recently, inclined hoods have become widespread. They are more aesthetic and fit better into modern interior styles. For them, the installation height is somewhat less:
- for gas stoves - 55-65 cm,
- for electric and induction plates - 35-45 cm.
Why is it important to stick to installation heights?
It is very important to install the hood at the height recommended by the manufacturer - only in this case it will work for a long time and effectively purify the air from burning and fat droplets formed during cooking.
Installation at a lower height may cause a fire, will interfere with cooking and does not look aesthetically pleasing. Too much height will not allow to catch all the pollution entering the air, and the efficiency of the exhaust will decrease.
Installation outlet for exhaust
The height of the installation of the hood above the stove depends on the location of the outlet where it will be connected. Usually the socket is mounted directly above the hood. A good option is to fix the socket above the wall of the wall cabinets by about 10-30 cm. At the same time, do not forget to move the hole under the socket 20 cm away from the axis of symmetry of the hood, since the exhaust duct runs along the center.
